Why the modem changes the risk boundary
A defect in an app can sometimes be isolated by removing that app. A modem defect affects a lower layer that is active while the phone handles calls, messages and mobile data. The owner may therefore see no suspicious on-screen action before exploitation.
The bulletin provides no evidence that specific messages, photos, passwords or accounts were stolen. It also does not establish that other Android manufacturers are affected by this same CVE. What Pixel users should do now
First check the patch level without following a link received by SMS or email:

- select System & updates, then Security update;
- install the available update and restart the phone;

If the phone is managed by an organization, do not bypass the update policy or the delay set by the administrator.
